v. 1. (tr) to please greatly
n. 1. extreme pleasure or satisfaction; joy
This morning, on my 27th birthday, I woke up with Psalm 37 on my heart. And I thought, if I can have anything in this next year of life, I want a greater delight in my God and a heart expanded to truly understand God’s great delight in me. It blows my mind that the all-powerful God of the universe looks on me with extreme pleasure and satisfaction. Wow. How I want to know this God more intimately, this love more completely.
I love the amplified version of these verses. Check it out:
Trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) in the Lord and do good;so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass. And He will make your uprightness and right standing with God go forth as the light, and your justice and right as [the shining sun of] the noonday.
-Psalms 37:3-6 (AMP)
He is good. He is love. He is the source of all delight. He is my delight…and He delights in me.
